It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul.  In the loving care of his family and pup Teddy, he passed peacefully at home on May 21st, 2025 after a short battle with Cancer.  Paul was born on September 5th, 1953 to father Glen (d.2006), and mother Pauline (née Menard) (d.2019) of Capreol, ON. Devoted husband to Monique (née Charbonneau) for 52 years.  Father to Jennifer (Jason d.2009) and Jason (Julie).  Loving Papa to Catherine, Tori, Daniel, Morgan and Miller.  Dear son-in-law to Jeanne (Oliva d. 2017).  He was the first of five siblings; Mark (Margo), Laurie (Nick), Glenda (Bruce d.2001), and Scott (Kathy).

Paul had a passion for family, flying, and the railway.  In his younger years he flew float planes and Cessna’s with his father and good friend Laurie.  He enjoyed Flight Simulator flying with many friends, creating a close bond with dear friend Shane. He even worked towards getting his helicopter license.  Paul spent 35+ years with the Canadian National Railway. He finished his career in Troy, Michigan as the Director of Transportation.  His passion for the railway allowed him to travel with his family throughout Ontario before finally settling down in Lambton County for his retirement.  His retirement gave him extra time for coffee dates with friends, frequent visits with his grandchildren, evenings to watch the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs games at the McEwen household, and special time for wood working, electrical, and building projects with those he loved.

Our “Ace”, our “Coach”… you will forever be remembered.

Special thanks to the team at Bluewater Health Med G and the Palliative Team who helped us bring Paul home.  To Dr. Lilly and the home-care workers who supported us during this difficult time, thank you for your kind words and compassion.  Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and friends Paul made at the Bluewater Health Dialysis Unit over the last year.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
