Peacefully, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Bluewater Health, Melvin Smith passed away to be with the Lord at the age of 72. Loving father of Nathan and his wife Tracy. Treasured brother of Diane (Sid), Marilyn (David), Keith, and the late Leonard. Survived by his dear friend Rita and will be missed by his church friends and community. Predeceased by his parents Reginald and Jean Smith. Melvin had a career in the Army which included postings to Germany and a tour in Croatia. He continued working various odd jobs over the years and retired faithfully from his maintenance position at River City Vineyard after 20 plus years of service. Melvin was serious about fitness and could be found riding his bike everywhere. A funeral service will be held at River City Vineyard, 260 Mitton St. N., Sarnia, on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, Mel requested donations to River City Vineyard (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
