Mariea Ann Strangway passed away in the company of family, after a short illness, on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Walter “Nick” Strangway (2001). Loving mother of Paula (Ron) Pfeifle and the late Lisa Strangway (2022). Cherished grandmother of Nicholas Pfeifle. Predeceased by her sister Colleen McSeveny (2020).
Mariea was very social and active in the community, with her family, and at her church. She was proud of her work, as a secretary at Sarnia Central Collegiate, and later as a recipe columnist for the Sarnia Observer. Mariea and Walter fiercely supported their disabled daughter, Lisa, for her whole life.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home – London Line Chapel on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service to celebrate Mariea’s life following at 12:00 p.m., and reception. A live stream of Mariea’s funeral service will be made available on her memorial page at the time of service.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, to Community Living Sarnia/Lambton, or to the charity of the donor’s choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
