Peacefully surrounded by her family, Mary Irene Vance, age 91 of Sarnia. Beloved wife of predeceased husband Douglas Jerrold Vance for 55 years. Sister of Marie and husband Joe O’Neill. Loving mother of Bob and Cynthia Vance, and Patty and Tom Levack. Grandmother of Shannon Vance and Dan Pineau, Emily and Lee Jeffcoate, Doug and Stephanie Vance, T.J. Levack and Laura Dean, Kevin O’Kelley and Mark Lomas, Bob Levack and Devon Bateman. Great-grandmother of Ian, Arianna, Kayson, Lilee, Jack, Ky, Leena, Aren, Owen, Emma, and Ethan. Predeceased by parents Barney and Florence Cousins, sisters Margaret and husband D’Arcy Olivier, Marlene and husband Bill Black, and infant twin grandchildren Tania and Steven Vance. Mary was a lifetime homemaker and had a huge vegetable garden that she loved tending to. She was a life member of the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen’s Association. Anyone that knew Mary knows that she loved her family and friends, loved animals, made many a dozen or two of butter tarts, and other yummy baked goods, loved canning and making jams and spaghetti sauce. Mom and Dad are surely busy already planning their next trip. Mary’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Vision Nursing Home with a special thank you for the outstanding care provided by the Superior Unit Team. Also a special thank you to the Palliative Care Team at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Point Edward, on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or the Kiwanis Children's Farm Charitable Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
