Peacefully, on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Thelma Aileen Vandenberghe (nee Passingham) passed away at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of the late Albert Vandenberghe (2007) for 53 years.
Loving mother of four sons David (Cindy), William (Connie), Robert (Connie), and Dennis (Patti) Vandenberghe and one daughter Lorraine Pelletier. Cherished grandmother to Jason (Marcy), Jeremy (Nina), Justin, Jill (Mike), Michael (Alysha), Robert (Kaytlyn), Andrew (Kristen), Kara (Tayler), and Tyler. Thelma is also survived by 17 great grandchildren. She will be missed by sister-in-law Helen Passingham, brother-in-law Ray Vandenberghe and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Alex and Edith Passingham, sisters Grace (Doug) Harris, Edythe (Bill) Wolsey and Betty Passingham, brother Lloyd Passingham and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Thelma was born June 13, 1935 and lived near Bright’s Grove until 1971 when she and her family moved to a farm near Petrolia. After raising her family Thelma worked for Lambton Elderly Outreach for 20 years.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Monday, April, 15, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Salvation Army or a charity of choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
