Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Bluewater Health, Barbara Ann Vandentop passed away at the age of 80. Beloved wife of the late Donald Vandentop. Loving mother of Christina (Michael) Hystead and Teresa (Bob) Malaryk. Cherished grandmother of Michaela (Landen) Porrey, Jacob, and Tiana. Dear sister of Sylvia (Ken) Wood, Michael Jr. (Darlene) Andriash, Penny (Ed) Hendrickx and sister-in-law of Terri Andriash and John Vandentop. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Ann Andriash and her brothers Alex, Timmothy, Patrick, and Steven Andriash. She will be missed by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Barbara was born in Sarnia and spent part of life in Winnipeg before moving back to Sarnia as a teenager. As she was growing up, she made many lifelong friends. Barbara had many hobbies and loved volunteering. She was an active member of the Women’s League at St. George Ukrainian Church, Sarnia Moose Lodge, and Girl Guides Canada. Barbara was a natural leader and always rose to the occasion no matter what was needed. In her career, Barbara worked for a variety of different doctors and then in her retirement she decided to try working at Tim Horton’s for a change of pace. Barbara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Barabara will take place at St George Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1045 Rosedale Ave, Sarnia, on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with family and friends being received one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St George Ukrainian Catholic Church or to a local charity of choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
