Vandevenne- On February 21st, 2024 John Robert Vandevenne passed away unexpectedly in his sleep. John is the son of the late Joseph and Moira Vandevenne. He is predeceased by his brother Paul and his son Ryan. He leaves behind the love of his life, Roberta, of nearly 47 years. He will be remembered and missed by; his son, Michael Vandevenne (Helena); his daughter, Jami Weening (Jon); his brothers and sisters, James (Cathy), Mary Jane Shin (Paul), Brian (Tracy), Margaret Thorn (Carson), Martha Holbrough (Larry), Ron (Richelle), David, Joe (Kathleen) and by his many nieces and nephews. He was especially proud of his grandchildren Benjamin, Ruth, Malcolm, Karly, Grace, Lydia and Elisabeth. One of John’s greatest joys was spending time with his family and his grandchildren who made him smile every day. John was a proud employee of Lambton Generating Station for over 35 years as a station engineer, a job he truly loved. He was a friend and coworker to many and he valued his relationships greatly. In recent years, he shared his passion for his work as a teacher at Lambton College. John will leave a heartache that won’t heal for many of us, but the steadfast love he so willingly shared with us leaves memories that no one will ever forget. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Friday February 23, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 466 John St. Port Lambton on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. In keeping with John’s wishes cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Lambton College Foundation.
