Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Bear Creek Terrace, Jennie Yvonne Whitely passed away at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Whitely (2020). Loving mother of Marlene Bain (Dave), Joan (Dan) Babcock, Murray (Julie) Whitely and David (the late Deana) Whitely. Cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Dear sister of the late Bev Richardson and sister-in-law of Don (the late Norma) Whitely, the late Reta Gavigan, Leo (Lorraine) Whitely, Leonard (Dodie) Whitely, and the late Jack Whitely. Predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Gillatly.
Yvonne cherished social gatherings, especially those filled with dancing, laughter, and the company of her beloved friends and family. Anyone who came to visit was warmly welcomed with fresh baking or a delicious meal—she truly loved to feed the world. When she wasn’t busy in the kitchen, Yvonne could be found knitting or crocheting gifts for her children and grandchildren, or enjoying one of her favourite pastimes: a special trip to the dollar store. Her kind heart and infectious laugh made her a joy to be around and left a lasting impression on everyone she met; she will be deeply missed.
