On October 9, 2024, Sarnia Police responded to a call at an Indian Road South gas station regarding a male observed passed out behind the wheel of a running pick-up truck. Concerned citizens reported the situation after seeing the parked vehicle with its engine running and the driver unresponsive.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed the male in an unconscious state behind the steering wheel. The police took precautionary measures to ensure the vehicle could not be driven before rousing the individual. Drug paraphernalia was observed and later found in plain sight on the console of the truck, and a syringe was observed inserted into the male’s wrist.
Officers successfully awakened the male and took him into custody without incident for the offence of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance. The male was transported to the Sarnia Police Station, where he underwent a series of tests conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert. Based on the results, the male was charged with Impaired Operation and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The individual has been identified as a 34-year-old of Tilbury. It has been confirmed that the suspect is already facing multiple charges, including an Operation While Impaired charge stemming from a 2023 incident.
