The Sarnia Police Service would like to remind the public of the lawful use of shopping carts.

Shopping carts are used to hold items while shopping and are meant to be returned to the store after you have paid for your purchases.

Shopping carts belong to retailers and cannot be removed from store property. Individuals who do so are engaging in theft and can be charged with Theft Under $5,000 and/or Possession of Stolen Property.

The Sarnia Police Service will be enforcing violations. Please ensure shopping carts are returned to the stores they came from.
