The Sarnia Community Foundation, in collaboration with the Cousi Hockey Development Fund, has presented the Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting with an $8,000 cheque to support the growth of their Goalie Development Program and increase accessibility for underserved families.

This substantial donation, announced as part of the Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Spirit Day, will help the organization implement strategic initiatives for goaltender development and encourage new players to try the position. The goal is to make girls' hockey more inclusive for all local families.

The Cousi Hockey Development Fund was formally established in 2024 with the Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) to specifically assist youth in sport. The fund’s creation comes from the momentum of an annual local golf tournament that has raised money for youth since 2017. The fund's current focus is to support and enhance local, quality youth hockey programs, and the next fundraising golf tournament is already scheduled for September 2026. Organizers noted that rising everyday costs are impacting youth participation in sports, making this support increasingly vital.

The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF), established in 1983, has given back more than $13 million to community organizations and projects across Sarnia-Lambton. The foundation supports various charitable endeavors by: working with donors to establish and maintain endowment funds, making grants to community projects and programs, collaborating and supporting leadership initiatives in the community, and administering and supporting donor-driven Scholarships.
