Great season for the Sarnia Imperials

Journal Staff The Sarnia Imperials wracked up their best regular season since rejoining the Northern Football Conference in 2006. Sarnia defeated the Sudbury Spartans 49-10 in the last game to finish with a 7-1 record.

The Sarnia Imperials wracked up their best regular season since rejoining the Northern Football Conference in 2006.

Sarnia defeated the Sudbury Spartans 49-10 in the last game to finish with a 7-1 record. The league-best record secured top seed and home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

The Imperials controlled the final game from start to finish. The offence piled up 171 yards on 18 carries, with running back Josh Wright amassing 110 of those yards.

Quarterback Pat Wright continued his great season, completing 11 of 14 passes for 175 yards and five touchdowns.

The defence was equally good, with two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and two quarterback sacks.

Linebacker John Bain led the way with six tackles.

Sarnia was set to play the Oakville Longhorns in the quarterfinals.
