Mary Johanna Cassin died peacefully on December 20, 2025, knowing she was loved and appreciated, her family was cared for, and her house was spotless. Predeceased by her beloved husband Larry. Loving mother of Stephanie (Devon) and Jeff (Ivonne). Cherished grandmother of Anaiya, Chantal, and Diego. Predeceased by her parents (Wilhelmina, John) and siblings (Ann, Tony, Martin). Survived by many loving brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary was born in the Netherlands and moved to the Petrolia/Sarnia area at age 8. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, baking, and gathering for Friday Happy Hour with her neighbours. She never met a crossword that was a match for her. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, dependability, wit, dry humour, and delectable peanut butter squares.
Thank you to Dr. Crombeen (Bluewater Palliative Care) and Nurse Mandy (Bayshore Healthcare) for their compassionate care, and to the many people who offered support to ensure she was comfortable at home.
Cremation has taken place. As per Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Sarnia Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
