With deep love and gratitude for life, Robert Allan Drope passed peacefully on November 26th, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Born May 15, 1940, to Allan and Muriel Drope, Rob lived a life shaped by faith, humility, and a profound appreciation for the everyday gifts that life provided.
Rob believed that the smallest and simplest of things—quiet moments, a familiar smile, the curve of an old fender, the warmth of family and friends around a table—were extraordinary blessings. He carried a gentle reverence for life that touched all those who knew him.
Born in Petrolia, Rob made Sarnia his home in 1972, where he built a life rooted in family, craftsmanship, and community. A gifted and recognized restorer of antique cars, he poured countless hours into bringing beauty back to the vehicles he cherished. From his many years working at Ron Clark Motors and McArthur Pontiac, to supporting his son at St. Germain Auto Body in Sarnia, Rob was known for his precision, his artistry, and his belief that every project deserved his very best. His perfectionism was admired; his dedication respected, and his craft a reflection of his character—steady, patient, and full of heart.
Rob shared 47 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Hendrica (Henny) Drope (nee Kap), together nurturing a blended family of six children that over time included many grand-children and great grand-children who provided him with joy. His love for family extended far and wide, and he carried each person in his heart with tenderness and pride.
He is lovingly remembered by his children; Garry Drope (Valerie), Jeff Cain (Carolyn), Denise Heaslip (Gary), Darlene Graham (Dale), Mark Cain (predeceased), and Sharla Sperryn (Graeme). Cherished grandchildren include Nic Drope (Keira), Emma Drope, Lucas Cain, Greg Heaslip, Patrick Heaslip (predeceased), Alex Drope (Megan), Stuart Graham (Katie), Madeline Graham, Gordon Graham (Kailey), Taylor Van Esch (Jake), Max Stroop, Lara Stroop; and great grandchildren; Cameron Heaslip, Lauren Heaslip, William Heaslip, Aila Graham, Lexi Graham, Archer Graham, and baby Carter Van Esch. Rob was a cherished brother to David Drope (Madeliene) and Carol Hoskins (Pete). His extended family included many beloved nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and dear friends who were woven tightly into the fabric of his life.
Rob had an artist’s spirit – shaping wood, metal, paint, or cherished antique cars into creations he often gave away freely, believing that beauty was meant to be shared. His humour was soft and steady, a familiar comfort to many, and his sentimental nature illuminating meaning, where others might pass by without noticing. He saw the world deeply. He loved deeply. And he gave deeply.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Rob’s many friends from the Sarnia-Lambton Parkinson’s support group who brought him strength and companionship, and to the dedicated staff at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, whose compassionate care uplifted both Rob and his family.
Rob leaves behind a legacy written in the quiet holiness of a life well-lived: a faith that never wavered, a love that never faltered, and a steadfast belief that every day—no matter how simple—was a gift to be unwrapped slowly and shared generously. He is deeply loved, profoundly missed, and his gentle spirit will linger in the hearts of all who knew him—like a warm light at the close of day.
