It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Francis Teasell (Whitlock) in her 90th year on July 14, 2025, following a brief stay at Marshall Gowland Manor. Born in Sarnia on July 3, 1935, Barb was the beloved wife to John William Teasell (d. 2017) for 62 years.  Dearly loved mother to Bob (Stella), Jim (Sandy), Steve (Sandi), Tom (Jen), Brenda (Ian), and Beth (Mark d. 2017). She was a cherished grandmother to Derek, Tyler, Kristin (Jahn), Matthew, Rhys, Remy, Jennifer and great grandmother to Ethan. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Fred and Verna Whitlock, and her sister Gloria Partlo (John d. 2009).

Barbara was a woman with a beautiful soul. She was full of unconditional love and self-sacrifice for her family, held a devout dedication to the Christian Faith, and loved the great outdoors. In her more youthful days, she was an avid camper, a cycling enthusiast, and a big fan of early morning runs, regardless of rain, sun or the occasional blizzard.  As she progressed into her later years, she took great delight in watching and interacting with the various birds and chipmunks around her home whom she spoiled with a seemingly endless supply of peanuts. Barbara had a vibrant laugh that brought warmth and love to those around her in the same way that her numerous home-made knitted blankets and slippers did for friends and family alike. She possessed an unbeatable talent and competitive spirit for the game of scrabble, often crushing her competitors with endless two letter words and triple word scores. Despite her competitive nature with scrabble, one area that Barbara truly excelled in was her ability to make anyone feel welcome in her own home. For nearly 70 years, Barbara’s modest but charming home was often a hub for friends and family to gather for a cup of coffee and casual conversation. Along with her husband John, they created an ‘open door policy’ for visitors that built strong foundations in their community. Above all, she was full of love, integrity and incredible character.  She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grand and great grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and a friend.  She will be deeply missed, and her memories will forever be in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Luncheon to follow at 1p.m. A live stream of Barbara’s funeral service will be available on her memorial page on the Smith Funeral Home website at the time of her service. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. A procession will depart from the funeral home following the luncheon in honour of Barbara. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Lakeshore Community Church, 2815 Old Lakeshore Road, Bright’s Grove, ON (cheques only at the funeral home please).
