Peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, Ronny Van Kempen in her 97th year, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Ronny was predeceased by her Husband Adrian (1988). She was a devoted mother to her three boys and daughter and their spouses. Peter and Yikka, Janet and Henry, Gerald and Karen, and Ron. She was a special Oma to six grand-daughters and nine great grandchildren. Ronny was born in Pernis, the Netherlands on September 3, 1928 to Pieter and Maartje Speelman, the second oldest of ten children. As newlyweds, Ronny immigrated to Canada with her love Adrian Van Kempen in 1949. They raised their family in Essex County before moving to Sarnia in 1985. Ronny enjoyed singing with her choir, knitting with her craft group, folding bulletins and setting tables for the fund raisers at church. Her life was made full by attending school programs, music recitals, 4-H shows, basketball games and track meets as she witnessed the growth of her granddaughters. Her church gave her strength as she went through life. She will be missed by her siblings Maria† Van Dyk (Cor†), Wilhelmina Vandergeest (John†), Martin† Speelman (Toni), Joanne Mantel (John†), Ina Hoogstra (John†), John Speelman (Corrie), Lydia De Ruiter (Walter†), Arie Speelman (Joanne†), and Mary Gibbons (Doug). And by her in-laws Ann† Rugters (Henk†) and Jean Rutgers (Bill†). She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and life long friends. A private family graveside will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. A memorial service will take place at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with friends and family being received one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm.
