Peacefully, with family by her side on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Bluewater Health, Karen passed away at the age of 83.
She is survived by her son Shawn (Michelle) Ferguson, daughter-in-law Wendy Ferguson and her grandchildren Heather, Brian, Reid (Kristian) and Cailan Ferguson.
Cherished Gee Gee of Louis, Casper and Abel Ferguson. Karen will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Henry (1993) and Dorothy (2006) Prout, her brothers Ernest (1945) and Wayne (1948) and her son Scott Ferguson (2016).
Karen started her career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Sarnia General Hospital in 1959, she later worked at St Joseph’s Hospital in Sarnia and moved to Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital Petrolia in 1974 where she worked until her retirement in 2002.
Karen was a passionate member of the Ontario Genealogical Society (Sarnia-Lambton branch), a beautiful quilter and knitter and an avid sports fan. She loved spending time outdoors gardening or sitting in the sun with a glass of wine or an ice cold beer in hand.
Karen’s wishes were to donate her body to the University of Western Ontario Medical Science Department so that upcoming health professionals can further their learning and continue to take care of others.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Sidepockets (Stoke’s Inland Bar and Grill) 1202 Lambton Mall Road, Sarnia from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
