Peacefully in the early hours of April 4, 2025, after a brief illness, our cherished and beloved husband, Dad and Poppa, Peter Melvin Humble passed at Bluewater Health in his 82 year. Best friend and husband to Bonnie, loving father of Beth (Wally) Luyke and Brad (Jacinda) Humble. Devoted Poppa to Brett (Jessica) Annett, Brooke (Kyle) Annett and Halie Humble. Over the moon great grandfather to the “wee one”, Khloe Adams. Beloved bonus Dad to Amanda Gaw, Marnie (Jack) Pretty and Marcy (Matt) Draker. Special bonus Poppa to Ethan (Mya) Crone, Hannah (Nick and Ellie) Crone, Lily (Tucker) Crone, Elijah, Wesley and Anna Draker and Shane, Sam and Emma Pretty. Much loved brother-in-law and shenanigan enthusiast of Janet Mathieson and family. Predeceased by his adored wife of 42 years, Mary Jane (2007); his parents, Melvin and Jean Humble and by his son-in-law Eric Crone (2011). Peter worked at Dow for many years and built close and enduring friendships with his fellow Millwrights and Tradesman. He couldn’t wait to get to the monthly breakfast he often organized with the Dow retirees at the Blue Willow in Sombra where he kibbitzed with Jackie and Crystal. Peter was a man of great faith and a true servant of his community. Elder of many, many years and Sunday School teacher at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Corunna. A lifelong hockey and baseball fan, Peter served as a Board Member of the Mooretown Flags (“GOOOOO MOOOOORETOOOWN”) and as well coached many Corunna kids including Brad and Beth for Corunna Minor Baseball. Peter served on the Corunna Fire Township for over 20 years as a Firefighter, Captain and Training Officer. Peter had a group of very special friends that he saw or spoke to weekly – usually daily – who held a dear and special place in his heart. You know who you are. If you had the privilege of meeting or knowing Peter you immediately had a friend for life. His broad smile, endless corny jokes (often focussed on flatulence) and love for Dow and Corunna hijinx warmed many, many hearts. A very, very heartfelt and special thank you to Dr. Alex Basden, Dr. Angelica Cornila, Dr. Robert Borek, Dr. Pandu Shetty, ER Dr. “Kashina” and nursing staff and the Telemetry floor Nurses and PSW Staff, Rachel, Delanie, John, Jason, Stacey, Kirsten and Nancy. You have no idea how much your kindness, professionalism and care for Peter impacted our family. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Sunday April 6, 2025 from 1-4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Corunna on Monday April 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Katherine Hawley officiating. Interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown. A man who loved the company of cats and dogs, Peter’s beloved pets were all rescues and should you wish to make a donation in Peter’s memory, the Sarnia District Humane Society would be a beautiful way to express your sympathy. To honour Peter’s memory we simply ask that you smile at a stranger, let someone merge into your lane, tell a terrible Dad joke and cherish those you love daily because tomorrow is never promised.
