Molly Colborne, a talented dancer from LKDSB’s Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School (NCIVS) in Sarnia, has spent most of her life perfecting her craft. Dancing since the age of three, she has grown into an accomplished performer, training with the Great Lakes Dance Academy and competing for years on their competition team. Her dedication to dance has earned her numerous championships, solo performances, and a reputation as one of the academy's most talented dancers.

One of the highlights of Molly's dance journey came earlier this year when she auditioned for Team Canada. After a successful audition early in the year, she received a call-back and was ultimately selected to join the prestigious national team. This opportunity led to her participation in the World Tap Dancing Competition in Prague in October, an experience that marked a significant milestone in her dance career.

Reflecting on her greatest accomplishment, Molly believes making it onto Team Canada stands as one of her proudest moments. "There are so many different kinds of accomplishments in dance, but I think making Team Canada is an amazing achievement," she said. "It’s something I’m really proud of."

Balancing the demands of competitive dance with the rigors of high school life is not always been easy. Thankfully, Molly has always found support from her school community at NCIVS.

"My school has always been very supportive of my dance efforts," she said. "Everyone is always very excited to hear about my competitions and shows."

When it came to choosing which secondary school Molly would attend, she “didn’t have to think twice about it.” A decision that has proven to be the right one, as Molly has had many opportunities to showcase her talents during her time at NCIVS. In grade 9, Molly joined the school dance team, performing at pep rallies and having the unique opportunity to perform at basketball games for neighboring Lambton College. This year, she has been awarded a leadership role as Team Captain, assisting in the creation of choreography and helping guide the group in their performances. It should come as no surprise, that she is currently considering a career in Elementary Education. If the shoe fits, dance in it!

Molly Colborne’s journey is a shining example of how talent, hard work, and a supportive community can lead to remarkable success.
