Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on November 12, 2024, at Bluewater Health – CEE, Stientje “Tillie” Grift, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Aart Grift for 46 wonderful years. Loving mother of the late Bill (Bernadette) Grift, Al (Bonnie) Grift, Art (Krystal) Grift, Joanne (Larry) Rivait, Grace Annett (Jim Greenaway). Cherished grandmother of Sarah Grift (Sarah has her faithful companions, doggy Minnie and cats Max and Avie), Catherine (Mike) Galloway, the late James Grift, Jeremy Grift, Jason Grift, Justin (Ashleigh) Grift, Chris (Alicia) Blackman, Christine (Dave) Poland, Darrin (Karen) Johnson, Lonnie (Janice) Bourne, Lori (Curtis) McCormick, Bill (Erica) Annett, Meghan Annett, late Beckie Annett, and Mandi Annett (Devon McLean). Treasured great-grandmother of 14 beautiful great grandchildren and two beautiful great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Margaret Weeke and Joanne (Dick) Grift. Predeceased by her parents, her brothers Jack and Al Smit, her sister Alice King, her grandchildren James Grift and Beckie Annett. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Mom had an abiding faith in her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ whom she came to know on February 16, 1963. Her most sincere prayer and desire is that all her family and friends come to know Him too. Tillie immigrated from the Netherlands to Canada in 1952. After she arrived, she met and married the love of her life Aart in 1953, three months after they met, embarking on a beautiful journey together. They had a blessed marriage of 46 years filled with love and shared memories. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. with family and friends being received one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Gospel Trust Fund or Diabetes Canada (cheques only at the funeral home please).
