Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Cyril Hugo “Hugh” Evers passed away at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Domenica “Mamie” Evers (2023) (nee Pellegrinuzzi) for 56 years. Loving father of Lea-Ann Evers (John), Tina (Dan) Bodendistle, and Rosanne (Mark) David. Cherished grandfather of Liam, Hannah, Thomas, Haley and Megan.
Survived by his sister and brothers, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Julius and Roselea Evers, his eldest sister and several brothers. Hugh was a creative, energetic and hardworking man who always enjoyed working with his hands. He had a love for music and playing guitar. His creativity would shine when building model planes and in the photos he took. Hugh had a great appreciation for the outdoors and the natural beauty of his home province. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 293 Stuart St., Sarnia, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
