Lambton County is advising residents of a possible strike by staff at the Sarnia downtown library and Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.
The earliest a strike could occur is Monday, Sept. 11, and if the labour dispute isn’t resolved both facilities will be closed for its duration.
The library only reopened on Aug. 21 after being shut down five weeks by a basement fire, and last week the Gallery launched two new exhibitions: Witness – Canadian Art of the First World War and Lambton at War.
Only the two facilities would be impacted. Staff at the county’s other 25 library branches are members of a different bargaining unit.
In the event of a strike, patrons could renew or return borrowed material by visiting the other locations, including the Mallroad, Point Edward, Bright’s Grove and Corunna branches, or renew online at the website LCLibrary.ca.
All bookings at the Library Theatre would be cancelled along with all programming at the Gallery, main Library and Children’s Library.
