The Ontario One Call Act has resulted in 25 million notifications since June of 2012 identifying the location of unground pipelines, telecommunication cables, wiring and sewers.
Prior to the act, homeowners and excavators had to make an average of seven calls to locate underground infrastructure before digging.
Today, the free service has 736 members signed up, including about 350 municipalities.
The non-profit Ontario One Call operates from a facility in Guelph that is open 24/7/365 days of the year, and in April opened a second office in Sudbury.
Between the two centres, Ontario One Call now has 150 employees.
