Some 38% of unemployed Canadians say they have, to some extent, completely given up looking for work, according to new poll.

Bruce Hein, of the Sarnia office of Express Employment Professionals, said that’s cause for concern.

“A significant portion of the unemployed have given up, and the longer they are unemployed, the more entrenched they become,” he said.

The Harris Poll survey of 1,837 jobless ages 18 and older was conducted online in April.
