It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Byron Kemmis on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the age of 77.
Beloved spouse of Linda Kjeldsen for 28 wonderful years. Greg is the youngest brother of Borden (Marie) Kemmis. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Deanna Kemmis, several nieces, and his special nephew Kevin, who was like a brother to him.
Greg was predeceased by his parents, Gladys (Bish) Kemmis and Raymond Kemmis; his sisters Blanche Paul (2020) and Melva Aiken (2005); and his brothers Kent Kemmis (2003) and Terry Kemmis (2023).
Greg was a retired pipefitter and a proud member of Local 663 of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Born and raised in Sarnia, he formed many lifelong friendships along the way. These friendships meant the world to Greg. He loved spending time with his friends playing baseball, golfing, bowling, and attending football games.
In his retirement years, Greg enjoyed woodworking, creating cutting and charcuterie boards for family and friends. His most recent and cherished project was building a bar for his home.
Greg is now reunited with his best friend Lyle, where the two are surely causing plenty of trouble together once again.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Bluewater Health, as well as to Dr. Crombeen for their compassionate care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sarnia Legion on Sunday, April 12, from 2:00–6:00 p.m., coordinated by Kelly Bell, Funeral Celebrant. Words of remembrance will be shared at 3:00 p.m.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
