After a brief illness, and with broken hearts, we announce the passing of “Captain” Kirk, born October 9, 1961, who passed away on February 23, 2026.

Kirk leaves behind his devastated wife and best friend, Karen Morningstar. He was a beloved stepfather to Jordan (Alysha), Brandon (Jessika), and Corey (Toni), and a proud Papa to Alaina and Amelia. He will be dearly missed by his brother Glenn Close, as well as several nieces and a nephew.

Kirk was predeceased by his parents, John and Ina Ross, and by his sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Donald Blythe.

A retired pipefitter and proud 40-year member of Local 663 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Kirk dedicated much of his life to his trade and the friendships he built along the way. Born and raised in Sarnia, he loved all that the city had to offer, especially the beautiful blue waters. He found peace and solitude by the water and made it a part of his daily routine.

An avid golfer since the age of 13, Kirk enjoyed playing many of Lambton County’s golf courses, especially alongside his cherished golfing buddies, Fabian Kameka, Tony Kameka, and Brian Ste. Marie. In retirement, he and former co-workers Greg Taylor and Gary Marsh formed a small coffee club that he looked forward to each and every day.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lily and nurses Jamie, Vicky, and Nessa for their compassionate care in the Palliative Care Unit at Bluewater Health.

In keeping with Kirk’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Those wishing to honour Kirk's memory are asked to consider a donation to a charity of your choice. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.sarniacremationservices.com.
