It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Larry J. Rice. He passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospice, on July 31st 2026, at the age of 75.

Larry was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Elizabeth (nee Purdy), his in-laws Al and Helga Laforet and his brother in law Raymond. In death, he is reunited with them, along with several other beloved family members and friends.

Larry was a devoted husband to Cathy (nee Laforet), proud father to Jason (Janice) of Corunna and Rachel Thompson of Sarnia. A loving grandfather to Emily, Brianna, Meghan, and Erin, big brother to Cory (Ninette), and uncle to Cory, Brian, and Trina. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in their achievements.

He was a proud member of Millwrights Local 1592 for over 50 years, where his strong work ethic and commitment earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

Larry found happiness in the simple things. He loved to sit in the sunshine with his coffee and his dog and also loved to fish and watch NASCAR.

Though he was a man of few words, Larry expressed his love through his actions, unwavering dedication, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and volunteers at St. Joseph's Hospice, who provided exceptional care and comfort during his final days.

In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour his memory are invited to make a donation to St. Joseph's Hospice, Sarnia.

We wish to extend thanks to all who helped during this difficult time. You will forever be in our hearts.
