The intimate evening, set for the Sarnia Library Theatre on September 8, offers readers a first look at the four-time Juno Award winner’s powerful journey of healing, resilience, and self-discovery. The event is a welcome return for the artist, after a planned concert stop in Sarnia was cancelled earlier this year.
Published by HarperCollins, KIHIANI traces Aglukark’s life from her upbringing in Arviat on the western edges of Hudson Bay, through navigating personal trauma, to finding her identity and strength through song.
The book launch coincides with another major milestone for Aglukark: the 30th anniversary of her breakthrough, triple-platinum album This Child. The album, which made her the first Inuk performer to have a Top 40 hit with the single “O Siem,” has been remastered and released on vinyl for the first time.
