Sarnia and Point Edward receive $482,274 in casino revenue payments

OLG’s latest quarterly payments bring combined casino-hosting revenue for Sarnia and Point Edward to nearly $1 million halfway through its fiscal year.

Sarnia and Point Edward are receiving a combined $482,274 in casino-hosting payments from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for the three months ending Sept. 30.

OLG announced the payments Oct. 21, with Point Edward receiving $394,395 for hosting Starlight Casino Point Edward and Sarnia receiving $87,879 for hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia.

The payments bring the municipalities’ combined revenue from the program to $986,422 for the first six months of OLG’s 2026–27 fiscal year, which began April 1.

Point Edward has received $815,106 so far this fiscal year, while Sarnia has received $171,316.

Compared with the preceding quarter, Sarnia’s payment increased by $4,442, while Point Edward’s decreased by $26,316.

The payments represent the municipalities’ share of gaming revenue under OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement. OLG says the same formula applies across Ontario’s land-based casino sites, using a graduated scale based on revenue generated at each location.

Since Gateway Casinos Sarnia opened in May 1999, the city has received nearly $28.6 million in hosting payments. Point Edward has received more than $56.3 million since its casino opened in April 2000.

OLG says casino host communities across Ontario have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994.
