IODE chapter donates $1,000 to St. Joseph’s Hospice for “Care for a Day” program

The gift follows a presentation to the chapter by hospice staff about the new program.

The IODE Hon. Malcolm Cameron Chapter has donated $1,000 to St. Joseph’s Hospice to support its new “Care for a Day” program.

Maria Muscedere, director of fund development and community relations at the hospice, and Ashley Andriash of the hospice spoke about the program at a recent chapter meeting. Chapter member Leila Boushy arranged the talk and the donation.

The chapter said St. Joseph’s Hospice is leading the province in introducing programs for community members who need support at the most difficult times.

St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton operates a 10-suite residence on Water Street. It also runs community programs for people living with a life-limiting illness, including day hospice and volunteer visiting. Its services are free.

The IODE Hon. Malcolm Cameron Chapter in Sarnia was chartered in March 1954, according to the IODE Canada chapter directory.

A chapter representative said Muscedere, Andriash and Boushy can provide more information about “Care for a Day.” Details on other hospice programs are available at stjosephshospice.ca.
