The Imperial Theatre will host acclaimed comedian, actor, and director Bruce McCulloch on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Part of his national Dark Purple Slice Tour, the performance begins at 8:00 p.m. and marks a return to the stage for one of Canada’s most distinctive comedic voices.
McCulloch is best known as a founding member of the legendary sketch troupe The Kids in the Hall. His new show, Dark Purple Slice, is described as a "one-man show that moves brilliantly between funny, relatable and uplifting." The title itself is a nod to a past review that labeled him the "dark purple slice" of the Kids in the Hall troupe.
The performance combines McCulloch’s trademark dark humor with personal stories and music. He explores the concept of gallows humor as a vital tool for navigating life's more difficult stretches. This production follows his previous celebrated solo works, including Tales of Bravery & Stupidity and Young Drunk Punk.
"Bruce McCulloch is a true icon of Canadian comedy," said Brian Austin Jr., Executive Director of the Imperial Theatre. Austin noted that McCulloch's "fearless and deeply personal solo performances" have shaped generations of audiences and comedians alike.
Beyond his sketch comedy roots, McCulloch has directed major television and film projects. His credits include Schitt’s Creek, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Trailer Park Boys, and the film Superstar. He also recently produced and directed three seasons of the CBC sketch series TallBoyz.
The Imperial Theatre, an 842-seat historic venue in downtown Sarnia, continues to serve as a hub for both community theatre and international professional acts. Originally built in 1936 as a movie house, the theatre remains one of the few in Canada owned and operated by a community group, Theatre Sarnia.
Tickets for the event are available now. General admission is priced at $56, while VIP tickets are available for $140.75. The VIP package includes a photo opportunity with McCulloch and an autographed script or photo, subject to availability.
