Oil Museum of Canada hosts hands-on science show for families
The free event will use balloons and simple machines to teach kids how to outsmart a mischievous mouse.

The Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, is inviting families to a hands-on science experience called Mousetrap! How to Catch a Mouse with Simple Machines on Saturday, July 4 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
In the interactive program, Murphy the Mouse is causing trouble around the house, and audience members must work together to design and build a working mousetrap using balloons and simple machines. Along the way, participants learn fundamental science concepts while enjoying a show packed with whimsical exploration and silly antics.
The roughly 45-minute show is presented by Kitchener-based entertainer Drew Ripley.
"Science plays a significant role in the stories shared here at the Oil Museum of Canada, whether we're exploring the chemistry behind the oil industry or demonstrating the simple machines that help us solve everyday problems," said Meagan Sinclair, curator and supervisor with the Oil Museum of Canada. "Through programs like Mousetrap! we want visitors to see how science shapes the world around them in playful, hands-on ways that spark curiosity and discovery."
The event is free to attend, but space is limited and registration is required. Spots can be reserved online at oilmuseum.ca.
