The Editor,

The truth is out and it is not pretty. Petrolians were led to believe that the return of blue boxes was a new government regulation. It was not. The provincial government appointed an agency, Circular Materials, to administer all garbage collection contracts [the Provincial government is taking over more and more of the jurisdictions that we used to control– Conservation Authorities, school boards, and now garbage collection contracts]

When the Town contacted Mr. Allen Langdon, CEO of Circular Materials, to correct this, they were told: 1. Mr.Langdon assumed that Petrolia was on the blue box programme. 2. He admitted that he had made a mistake. 3.He stated that he did not have time to review previous garbage contracts.4. When the town requested that they rescind this order for blue boxes, Mr. Langdon replied that it was too late because the contract had been awarded.

We now have to rise up again as we did 15 years ago. Led by Charlotte's Task Force, we were successful in keeping our CEE Hospital open. We are now demanding that the government reinstate our wonderful BINS, and at their cost. Hopefully, our government representative Bob Bailey will help this happen,

I am prepared to lead the charge, supported by all of our citizens on this new mission. We have to get the word out. We would ask people to use Facebook, etc.,as well as contacting the following:

Hon.Todd McCarthy, Min. of Environment at [email protected]

Bob Bailey MPP, at “[email protected]” tel 519 337 0051

Allen Langdon, CEO of Circular Materials, at “[email protected]

Many voices can make this happen. We should not be the brunt of this major mistake made by one person/ company. We do not want to wait until future contracts are let. (At my age, I now have to take out my blue box on a 4 wheeled cart).
