I would like to commend Yasmeen Ibrahim on her letter that put intelligent emphasis on sharing understanding even as we are aware of differences in our perspectives on our community and the world around us.
I would reinforce her message with a quote from Canadian Scholar and husband of former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson. John Ralston Saul said that surely we must understand that it is the understanding and acceptance of differences, not the demand for sameness that will allow us to function together as human beings.
And I would just add one little thought of my own…let us all try to judge a little less and learn a little more, before making sweeping judgments that rarely do anything but polarize. In the end, we must never lose sight of our shared humanity and our membership in community
