Sarnia is being asked to provide space for a war memorial, in part to honour the lives of two Lambton County residents lost in Canada’s Afghanistan Mission.

The 1^st Hussars Association is recommending a light armoured vehicle, known as a LAV III, be erected in Centennial, Germain or Victoria parks as part of a national memorial program to recognize the 158 Canadian soldiers killed and more than 2,000 wounded between 2001 and 2014.

Among those lost were Pte. William Cushley of Port Lambton, and Cpl. Brent Poland of Camlachie.

The association has offered to pay for the delivery and installation of the vehicle, and well as upkeep and a plaque.
