Non-essential travellers hoping to cross the Blue Water Bridge will need to wait another month at least, Ottawa says.
Canada and the U.S. said today they are extending the border’s closure to all non-essential travel for another 30 days to control the spread of COVID-19. It began March 21.
During the first two weeks, the crossing between Point Edward and Port Huron experienced a 94% decrease in passenger vehicles and a 38% drop in commercial truck traffic, the Canada Borders Services Agency said.
Michigan is one of the hardest hit U.S. states. It has 30,000 confirmed cases and 2,000 deaths, more than in all of Canada.
