Canatara Beach earns symbol of excellence

Canatara Park Beach will be flying a blue flag again this summer.

Blue Flag status is granted to beaches and marinas that meet international standards for water quality, environmental management and education, and safety and services.

Canatara is one of just 14 facilities in Ontario and one of 27 in Canada to earn the nod.

The symbol is one that many beachgoers seek out when choosing where to swim with their families, said Brett Tryon of Environmental Defence.

“It is truly a symbol of excellence,” he said.
