The leaders of the province’s three main political parties paid a visit to Sarnia recently to participate in the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting.

Premier Kathleen Wynne spoke to delegates in Point Edward on May 5 while Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown and NDP leader Andrea Horwath followed suit the next day.

The event was hosted by the local Chamber and featured three days of social events, dinners and discussions on topic such as hydro rates, renewable energy and cross-border trade.

Local Chamber president & CEO Shirley de Silva said she expects the parties to reach out more as next year’s election nears.

“We do expect other opportunities to engage with political parties and candidates will come our way, and we’ll pass on those to our members,” she said.
