Sarnia is acting on its commitment to more quickly make roadways and sidewalks fully accessible.

A $218,000 contract has been awarded to Autoform Contracting to increase the number of sidewalk ramps, upgrade roadway traffic islands and improve transit stops.

Included in the project are special ramps with cast iron plates set in concrete to help the visually impacted at stairs and ramps.

Barring an early winter, the improvements will be completed this year.
