Ten more people have recovered from COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 120, Lambton Public Health said this morning.
One new case was reported, raising the number of infections to 189.
Fourteen people have died, with no new deaths for two straight weeks.
Likewise, there are no new infections at Sarnia’s three impacted senior facilities: Landmark Village, Vision Nursing Home, and Sumac Lodge.
The improvement locally is occurring even as increased testing takes place. An additional 648 test results have been received since May 1, bringing the total number of people tested to 2,759.
Bluewater Health is treating nine patients for the virus, with another 20 suspected to have it and awaiting test results.
Meanwhile, Sarnia’s municipal facilities, sports fields, organized programs, picnic rentals and other amenities will remain closed until July 3, the city says.
Their possible reopening will be re-evaluated the second week of June to align with any announcement from the Ontario government.
City Hall has also confirmed Sarnia’s Canada Day festivities and annual fireworks display is cancelled for 2020.
The current ban on recreational open fires has been extended to May 31, but has begun issuing rural burn permits to farmers clearing brush.
