The 450 volunteers who ensure school children in Sarnia-Lambton have something healthy to eat every day were recognized recently by the Ontario Student Nutrition Program.
The volunteers who attended the event at DeGroot’s Nurseries do grocery shopping, food prep and fundraising to help provide 8,400 students at 45 schools with health snacks.
“The Student Nutrition Program is 100% volunteer driven,” Leslie Palimaka, Lambton’s student nutrition coordinator. “Volunteers work tirelessly to ensure students are well nourished and ready to learn in Lambton; their time is invaluable.”
