The annual surveillance of dead birds has begun to help track West Nile virus this year.

The public is encouraged to report all dead birds found by calling 519-383-3824, ext. 3824, or online at www.lambtonhealth.on.ca.

Health officials can’t collect every bird, but some adult crows and blue jays, dead less than 24 hours, may be considered for physical testing.

If the bird isn’t tested, you will be asked to dispose of it. Use gloves to put the dead bird in a double, plastic bag, or turn the bag inside out and scoop it with the bag.
