It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christine "Chris" West (née Ashenden), aged 67 after facing a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Chris passed away in her home surrounded by the love of her family.

Chris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and community volunteer whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives. She dedicated much of her life to serving others and making her community a better place.

When her children were young, Chris was a familiar face at school events, always volunteering her time and energy wherever she was needed. In recent years, she was a member of the Rotary Club of Bluewaterland, St. Paul's Anglican Church in Point Edward, and served on numerous patient advisory boards for Bluewater Health, advocating for patients and helping improve healthcare in her community.

Chris was a loving and supportive mother who took immense pride in her children: Heather (Lee) Campbell, Alison West, Melissa (Brock) Ferguson, and Jamie (Chelsea) West. She celebrated every accomplishment, large and small, and spoke of her children with endless love and pride.

Her greatest joy was being Grandma to Leo, Casey, Jackson, Connor, Miles, Kit, Wren, Willow, Arthur, and Ozzy. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. Whether they lived nearby in Sarnia or across the country in British Columbia, she rarely missed a birthday, milestone, or opportunity to show her love. Grandma's house was a place of comfort, laughter, and belonging—a home that brought the family together.

Chris is survived by her beloved husband, Greg Robbins (Jennifer and Jeff). Greg was the beautiful second chapter of her life story. They found each other at exactly the right time and built a life filled with love, companionship, adventure, and laughter. Together they planned memorable trips and travelled the world, creating cherished memories that will forever remain close to the hearts of those who loved them.

She is also survived by her sister, Jane Ashenden (Stephen), her brother, John Ashenden, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Chris will be remembered for her compassion, her unwavering support for others, her commitment to service, and the deep love she shared with family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and, in the family, she loves so fiercely. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, strength, and spirit will remain with us always.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received for visitation at Smith Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Point Edward on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will take place.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Kidney Foundation, Rotary Club or St Paul’s Anglican Church (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
