Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Charlotte Romayne Bernhardt passed away at the age of 95. Reunited with her late husband John Bernhardt of 59 years. Loving mother to Brian (Nancy) Bernhardt, Jeff (Darlene) Bernhardt, and Tim (Sheri) Bernhardt. Cherished grandmother to Ron (Melissa) Atyeo, Dawn (Bill) Picard, Scott (Anne) Freer, Jesse (Tammy) Elliott, Megan (Jesse) Mason, Matt (Alex) Bernhardt, and Jake Bernhardt. Treasured great grandmother to 15. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Sheila Smith, sister Kay (Bill) Grigorski and Pat (John) Thompson, and brother Ramsay (Shirley) Smith. Romayne was a homemaker who dedicated her time volunteering at the New Hope School and various community events. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years. Romayne loved living on the St. Clair River with her family. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, on Wednesday, June 26, at 12:00 p.m. with family and friends being received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
