On May 25th, 2024 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, Ontario, Frederick "Fred" Franklin Bressette began his journey to the Spirit World in his 89th year. He is also recognized by his Anishnaabe noozwin Tashkigiizhik "Split in the Sky".
He is honoured by his children, Gail (Charlie), Shelly (Miles), Barbara (Stewart-baa), Buck (Carol), and Summer (Ian); his little sisters, Mary (Gary), Renee, Andrea, Marlene (Bill), Georgina; and his many grand children and great-grandchildren that were the light of his life.
Fred ("Papa" to his family) is greeted with deep love on his journey by his wife and best friend, Bonnie-baa; his parents, Frank-baa and Phemie-baa; his son, Donnie-baa; his siblings, Virginia-baa, Norma-baa, Ed-baa, Jerry-baa, Eleanor-baa, Verna-baa, Vera-baa Gail-baa, and Sarah-baa; and his grandchildren, Starr-baa, Franklin-baa, and Eddie-baa.
Fred lived a full life as a carpenter, a hunter, and fisherman, a storyteller, language speaker, fighter, protector, and of course, the best Papa in the whole world to his family who he loved with his whole heart. Papa filled the room with laughter with many stories of his life and his experiences. He would do anything for his loved ones without hesitation and made sure that they were safe and cared for as much as possible. He will be missed dearly and his life will be spoken of with reverence, deep admiration, and of course, laughter.
As per Papa's wishes, he will be having a private service in his home with his family. We welcome visitation during the day on Monday, May 27, 2024 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, and the evening will be for traditional ceremony with the family. Community can visit the sacred fire at any time until Tuesday morning. Miigwech ❤️
