A year of missing you!!
On September 18, 2025, You (John David Burden, born 1948, best known as Dave), finished the race and went to be with Jesus. This unexpected passing was devastating to those that adore you most – your family. We have cried, laughed and cherished the memories we will hold close as we now navigate life without you and the huge hole your absence has left in our lives.
You are cherished by your wife, Esther Burden, for more than 52 years. Your love and commitment to each other were inspiring and made you stronger together. You walked through life’s storms hand in hand, standing firm in your faith together. Making Mom laugh was always one of your favourite things.
Dad, we, your children, Matthew Burden and Joylynn (Adam Hook), are so grateful for the gift you were to us. You loved us so selflessly, and there was never anything you wouldn’t do for your family. You worked hard to give us a childhood filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories. You were always there for us, and that never changed. You will always be our hero!
Papa, Caden and Titus miss the time you spent with them watching cartoons and feeding the chipmunks together. They adored you, and you adored them right back. They thought you were absolutely hilarious and loved being with you. They are thankful you shared your love of woodworking with them and cherish the things you built together. They miss you deeply every day.
You leave behind a brother Don (Kelly) Burden whom you shared many fun childhood memories with, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. You will be missed for your generous heart and life will never be the same without your quick-wit and dry sense of humour.
Dad, you taught us to live an uncompromising life for Jesus. Your strength and determination was an example you lived for us daily. You battled with chronic pain, but you always said you didn’t have time for pain and never let it slow you down. When you had trouble sleeping, which was often you took that opportunity to pray for others. You were always building and busy working on a project or drawing up the plans for your next one. You left behind a legacy of honour and love, shown by how deeply your family misses You. In your unexpected passing the world lost a great man, but heaven gained a warrior. We know you are cheering us on to keep believing, living for Jesus and meet you on the other side some day.
