Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on July 27, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Thomas Albert Clarke passed away at the age of 74 following a courageous 6-year battle with cancer. Tom’s positivity and determination was inspirational and remained right to the end.

Tom will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 40 years Joanne and daughters Kelly Thompson (Allan Leduc), Debb Lindsay-Lane (Shawn Lane) and is the cherished Papa of Emily Thompson, Delia D’Andrea, Jacob and Jackson Lane. Tom will also be missed by dear brother Sean Ashley (Joan), Michael Ashley (Denise); Sister-in-Law Susan Smith (Paul), and Brother-in-law Al Leckie (Sandy). Treasured lifelong friend to Glen Wright, and Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Tara (1974), parents Bud and Myrtle Clarke, Parents-in-Law Ray and Jo Leckie, and sister Patricia Ashley.

Tom lived in Halifax during part of his childhood, moving to Sarnia around the age of 10. He enjoyed many activities including bowling leagues at Marcin Bowl, fishing (was a member of Bluewater Anglers), boating from Bridgeview Marina and many trips to Florida and the Florida Keys. Tom retired in 2007 from Nova Chemicals/Styrene II.

Tom’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Kim, Dr. Wells, all staff and volunteers of Bluewater Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and support during Tom’s final days. As well as the Doctors and Nurses at London Health Sciences Cancer Center for their care over the years.

Cremation has taken place and the family requests in lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only at the funeral home, please).

Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of his life on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, 500 Errol Road West, Sarnia. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
