Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Mary Maxwell Ferguson passed away at the age of 87. Born on January 31, 1938 in Sarnia to Alexander and Williamina Henderson (née Cruickshanks) Mary was the last surviving member of her parent’s family. She was the fourth sibling of eight. Predeceased by her beloved husband Doug (2013) and youngest daughter Nancy Ferguson (2023) (Frank Delorme). Mary is survived by her children: Mardelle with whom she was joyfully reunited later in life, Mike Ferguson (Carol) and Susan. Her family brought her endless pride and joy, especially her grandchildren: Robyn, Dale, Meghan, Katelyn, Casey, Tanisha, and Jasmine, and her great-grandchildren: Joshua, Rowan, and Lena. It's hard to imagine a heart capable of loving as deeply as hers. Over the many years her love and skill of sewing produced innumerable items, including clothing, and alterations for all.
She was also a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews.
For many years, Mary worked in the laboratory office at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sarnia. She was a dedicated and dependable presence, respected by her colleagues and admired for her quiet dedication and work ethic.
She enjoyed sharing her beautiful voice, singing with the Bluewater Sweet Adelines chorus. In her later years, her favorite things were spending time with family, whether it be at bingo, playing cards or family dinners.
Mary will be remembered most for her gentle spirit, her enduring love for her family, and the grace with which she navigated life’s challenges.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Inn of the Good Shepherd. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Cremation has taken place.
