It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Peter William Glaab announces his passing on January 21st, 2026, at the age of 96. Gently, in the comfort of his faith and surrounded by the love of his family, Peter accepted the call to eternal rest.

Peter will be forever missed by his loving wife and soulmate, Kathleen “Kaye” (nee Ward), with whom he shared 75 devoted years of marriage. He was a beloved father to Janet (Brian) Wiese, Peter (Wendy) Glaab and Anne (Chuck) Archer. Proud Poppa to Andrew (Selina) Austin, Meaghan Glaab and Vanessa (James) Edgar. Cherished great-grandfather of Hartley & Hayden Austin and Savannah & Lylah Edgar and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Peter was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret Glaab, sister Mary Margaret (Cameron) MacDonald and brothers Charles (Joan) Glaab and John (Linda) Glaab.

After more than 40 years of service Peter retired from Imperial Oil in 1984. His career with Imperial took him to many work assignments across Canada and Europe. He enjoyed a long and healthy retirement where he and Kaye experienced many memorable adventures together, traveling through life hand in hand.

Dedicated to his Catholic faith, Peter devotedly attended St. Joseph's Church in childhood and in his adult years was a parishioner and choir member at St. Benedict's Church. Throughout every stage of his life athletics were a passion – in his youth he played baseball, football and hockey and throughout the 1960’s was a referee in the IHL, OHA and OMHA. In his twenties he learned to fly at Skyview, the old grass landing strip at Reece’s Corners where he qualified for his pilots’ license.

Like his father, Peter Sr., and brother Charles, he was a passionate golfer and longtime member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club – where following his playing days he would meet his golfing buddies every week for breakfast and banter.

Peter was blessed to experience a life well lived. He was our family's pillar of strength, leaving us with a legacy encompassing the values that he upheld, wisdom that he openly shared and unconditional love that has resonated throughout our entire family. His memory will live on within all of our hearts.

"Your life was a blessing; your memory is a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure."

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mousseau and Dr. MacSweeney of Bluewater Health and the Nursing Staff from the General Medicine and Palliative Care floors for their kindness and compassion.

As per Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life honouring Peter will be hosted at the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club this summer.

If you wish, sympathy may be expressed through donations to your choice of the Bluewater Health Cancer Clinic in honour of Breast Cancer, or The Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
