It is with deeply saddened hearts that we share the news of the passing of our loving mother. Virginia is predeceased by the love of her life, husband, Lorne (2000). She was the caring, proud mother of Loriann Blundy (Paul), Paul McGill (Bonnie) and Carolyn Spettigue (Andrew). Special Grandmother to Carolyn Marciano (Patrick), Katie Blundy, Lesli Decarolis (Joe), Julie Postil (Marcus), and Brooke Salenbien (Brady). She had the honour of being Great Grandmother to Michael and Jacob Decarolis, Charlotte and Colin Marciano, Blakely and Dane Postil, and Scottie Mae, Kameron and Mack Salenbien. Sister to Kathleen and Pete Glaab. "Aunt Ginny" held a special place in her heart for each and every one of her nieces and nephews. Predeceased and waiting for her at the table of God, parents Agnes and Joseph Ward; siblings Marilyn and Bruce Johnson, Donald and Anne Ward, Helen and Harvey Blais, and Majorie and Charlie Hunter. Virginia was born and raised in Sarnia. Sharing her birthday with Canada Day, she would always say that she gave everyone the day off for her birthday and threw in some fireworks. Lorne and Virgina had the great pleasure in life to enjoy the company of many friends. They were always hosts to many social gatherings. She enjoyed her monthly lunches with her girlfriends from her school days (Margot, Shirley & Jeannie) and monthly dinners with her granddaughters. It was considered a bonus day if they fell on the same day. Covid came along and cramped her style. She was a CWL Member since 1959. Mom later became a resident of Afton Park Place where she had to embrace a different lifestyle. The family would like to acknowledge all the staff at Afton on 2West for the fabulous continuous care and friendship provided to our mom and family. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home – McKenzie Blundy Chapel, 431 Christina St. N., on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Benedict’s Church, 1011 Oak Ave, Sarnia, at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia & District Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).
